I have been a customer of SmartStops’s Plains Road location for well over 10 years. Started off with a 5x10 locker but had to move up to a 15x10 when my kids moved home from school. Costs for this locker are constantly going up to the point they just sent me notice my monthly cost will now be $435. We decided it’s time to downsize. I looked on their website to see 10x10 lockers are renting for $151/month (15x10 is $222/month). I called the store and was told I could get the online price for the smaller locker. Great! Go to the store to make arrangements only to be told that is the “new customer price” and as an existing client I would not qualify for the online pricing. Not great. I asked how much I would pay for the smaller locker and was told I would save $3.00 over what I am paying now. I asked to speak to someone about this and have yet to hear from anyone. It is a strange business strategy to reward new customers versus loyal customers but maybe they are losing so much business they have no other choice. I will be moving to a different company’s location about a kilometre away and guess what - I will be paying $150 for a 10x10 locker. Do not recommend this company at all.

I was very impressed by the administrative staff (Amy & Alma) who set me up with a storage unit on Plains Rd., in Burlington. They were very professional and helpful. Registration was efficient and the price was right. Thanks for doing a great job. Much appreciated! Mark ;-)

I was super nervous about my big move and about stoping all of my possessions, but Amy was amazing at making me feel comfortable with the process and what to expect. Very happy so far with the people. I did have to deduct one star tho as there are two lips of about 2 or 3” each up from the driveway to my storage unit and I tripped quite badly on it during my move, so perhaps they could put a marker on the edge of the concrete so that this doesn’t happen. Also the lip made it hard to get a dolly up over it and into the unit. But the unit itself and the facilities seem very well maintained otherwise.

New customer here, just signed up online and met the staff to complete the rental. Everything with the company side seems to be great. As I went through the gate with my keycode, another customer pulled in, I stopped and they could not go further, they started to honk and I got out to explain that they need to put their own code in just as I did for entry. This lady (probably mid-50's let's call her Karen) started swearing, calling names and wouldn't listen. IF you ever see a newer Black Ford Ranger in the parking lot stay clear of this Karen because she is a nasty woman. I feel sorry for her husband (if she managed to get one) and her employeer. I don't understand how someone can go through life being that nasty to people.
